Helpful Suggestions Sound: This piece has a range of more than one octave. It spans from low G to A. You can find the fingerings here. The piece is marked mezzo piano and then mezzo forte. Be sure to make a difference in the dynamic level of each phrase. Rhythm: Since this piece is a waltz, your time signature is three-four time, which means that there are three beats in a measure and the quarter note is equal to one beat. Playing along with MetronomeBot's talking metronome in triple meter will help you maintain a steady tempo. Melody: This piece consists of 4, four-measure phrases. The Waltz of the Gulls on the Beach is harder than the first two pieces in Lesson 10 in terms of fingerings. For example, in the second measure when playing from B to G, make sure to place your fingers down at exactly the same time so that the G will speak clearly. Follow the slurs and tongue where it is marked.
